ACCIONA Energy became a pioneer in 2007 when it grid connected the Nevada Solar One, a 64 MW parabolic cylinder facility located in the Nevada Desert (USA). It became the first company in the world to set up a CSP plant after the projects carried out in California between 1985 and 1991, leading to the rebirth of this renewable technology.
Since then, it installed (also under its ownership) five more plants, all of them in Spain, with total capacity of 249.80 MW. The company also installed a 1 MW plant in Saguaro (Arizona, USA) for the utility company Arizona Public Service (APS).
AGREEMENT TO SELL THE CSP POWER PLANTS IN SPAIN
On February 27th, 2018 ACCIONA announced an agreement to sell its five CSP plants in Spain -totaling a capacity of 250MW- to ContourGlobal plc. The deal was completed on May 10th, 2018.
ACCIONA, through its business branch ACCIONA Industrial, puts its broad experience in engineering, construction and O&M of CSP plants at the service of the customers as EPC/turnkey project contractor.
ACCIONA Energy currently owns and operates the 64-MW CSP plant Nevada Solar One, located in the Nevada Desert (US). On May 10th, 2018, the company completed the sale of its five CSP plants in Spain (totaling 250 MW) to ContourGlobal plc.
The power output accounted by ACCIONA corresponding to its plant in Nevada in 2018 and the period of that year up to the disposal of its plants in Spain amounted to 194 GWh, corresponding 114 GWh to Nevada Solar One
